The latest meeting in the series of meetings between the Health Board and the Labour Party team representing Kidwelly was held on 22 nd December 2016. The Labour Team representing Kidwelly of Nia Griffith MP, (accompanied by Suzy Curry, her Senior Parliamentary Assistant), Cllr. Ryan Thomas (the County Councillor for Kidwelly), Cllr. Mike Thomas and Cllr. Philip Thompson (both Kidwelly Town Councillors). The Health Board was again represented at a senior level team of Rachel Pompa, Head of General Medicine and Anne Jenkins, the Practice Manager of Meddygfa Minafon. Station Road Junction Several fresh concerns have been raised about the safety of pedestrians at the Bridge Street/Causeway Street/Station Road junction, particularly while schoolchildren are traveling along the route to school. A site visit has been arranged on 13 December to consider the issue, meeting at 8:30 at the Station Road Car Park. Speeding Concerns along New Street and Water Street A request has been made to GoSafe to release the data collected from the traffic counters that were located on New Street and Water Street. This information will be forthcoming after it is considered by the multi-agency [GoSafe, Roads Policing, Council's Road Safety Unit] speed management group meeting to be held on 7 December. I have a compulsive need to achieve things. By 12pm every day I want to feel like I have made a list of achievements, no matter how small or trivial. Maybe I can work through my inbox, study a chapter for university or spend an hour at the gym. I have this unrefutable compulsion to do things. If I manage to make it through till lunchtime without doing anything I feel terrible. I spiral into a well of guilt and a feeling of disappointment with myself. Today I managed to get something done. I had a long-overdue haircut. My hair is now of a reasonable length for a man. My pre-lunch goal is achieved and I can not conquer the rest of the day with the knowledge that I am not a lazy-good-for-nothing so-and-so.

Surgery I am continuing to monitor the situation at the surgery and will be meeting again soon with the leadership team. I have also been raising patient concerns through my role as a member of the Hywel Dda Community Health Council. Highways The county council is currently consulting on a number of schemes to improve the roads throughout the town including:          Newtown – turning bay          Priory Street – outside Ysgol y Castell          Station Road – to the front of the Post Office         Water Street – new bus stop and parking bay markings         Westhill Crescent – one-way system I am also exploring new ways to fund requests for new sections of pavement along Meinciau Road and Carmarthen Road. The Labour Team representing Kidwelly of Nia Griffith MP, Cllr. Ryan Thomas (the County Councillor for Kidwelly), Cllr. Mike Thomas and Cllr. Philip Thompson (both Kidwelly Town Councillors), have held a further meeting in their series of meetings with Hywel Dda’s senior management and the local practice manager about the difficulties faced by the surgery. This meeting also followed on from Lee Waters AM raising the problem of GP recruitment at the surgery in the Senedd at First Minister’s Questions.
