County Councillor's Report - October 2016
Surgery
I am continuing to monitor the situation at the surgery and will be meeting again soon with the leadership team. I have also been raising patient concerns through my role as a member of the Hywel Dda Community Health Council.
Highways
The county council is currently consulting on a number of schemes to improve the roads throughout the town including:
- Newtown – turning bay
- Priory Street – outside Ysgol y Castell
- Station Road – to the front of the Post Office
- Water Street – new bus stop and parking bay markings
- Westhill Crescent – one-way system
I am also exploring new ways to fund requests for new sections of pavement along Meinciau Road and Carmarthen Road.
Education
I continue to work in my roles as governor of Ysgol Gymraeg Gwenllian and Ysgol y Castell. I have recently met with the head teacher of Ysgol y Castell to discuss the state of the school building and capacity issues.
Bin Collection
I have been raising concerns with the county council regarding changes to the bin collection service. Particular concerns include changes to the garden waste collection and that it will not continue during the winter months and the new system of wheelie bins and a subscription charge.
County Council Budget
The county council will soon start working on its budget for the 2017/18 financial year. Information will become available on how the public can contribute to this process.
Casework
I am also raising a number of issues on behalf of residents with the county council. You are welcome to refer any residents to me using the contact details below if you feel I am able to assist them.
